Chapter 34
After Morning Dew was disbanded.
A power struggle had been unfolding in the underworld of Isilia for some time.
Even so, they were nothing more than common thugs whose funding and organization were too pathetic to ever replace Morning Dew.
A man belonging to the most prominent of these organizations was currently steeped in bitter regret.
Just as he usually did, he had picked a fight with a young boy, intending to extort some money.
But how did things turn out this way?
Thwack! Thud!
Crack-thud-crack!
The subordinates he took such pride in were now half-dead, having been beaten to within an inch of their lives by a white-haired old man.
‘Just who on earth did I mess with…?’
The man trembled as he looked at the old man, whose face was splattered with blood…
“Hic!”
Letting out an involuntary hiccup, he quickly squeezed his eyes shut, pretending to have fainted.
“Since it seems you have learned your place, I shall let it go at this.”
Crunch!
Snap!
Wharton, who couldn’t possibly have missed the ruse, stomped on the thug’s elbow, shattering it.
“Aaaaagh!”
The man screamed in unbearable agony before finally losing consciousness for real.
It had taken less than five minutes to subdue seven burly men.
“It has been a long time, youngest young master. I apologize for greeting you in such a state.”
Wharton wiped the blood from his face with a handkerchief and bowed politely to Khal.
‘As I thought, it was Wharton.’
—Pure white hair, a monocle, and neat attire… From my childhood until now, the only ones who have been consistently kind to me were Wharton and my mother. However, Wharton also served my father, so he could not always stay by my side.
