Chapter 25
At dusk.
Dinner time had returned to Onyx Square once again.
Having washed up and changed into clean clothes, Pyrr sat beside Lily, munching on a piece of bread. McCally, watching her intently, spoke to Khal with a disgruntled expression.
“Are you just going to use our school’s laboratory as a daycare now without a second thought?”
“Why not? It’s nice for her to make a friend.”
Snap!
“You brat, how dare you! How many times have I told you to treat your master like the heavens themselves?”
Furious at being teased again, McCally began to berate Khal incessantly. Of course, Khal remained unbothered, accepting it with a stoic face.
Watching the scene, Lily let out a small chuckle and spoke up.
“You two look like an older sister and a disobedient younger brother now.”
“Still, I think the Young Lord only ever smiles when he’s with Professor McCally,” Rain chimed in, placing a freshly baked cherry pie on the table.
“No other school would be able to act like this.”
Lily looked at Khal and McCally with a gaze tinged with envy.

After the meal, an awkward silence settled over the room. Pyrr, her hair tied in twin braids, spoke while clutching her teddy bear tightly.
“My mom was working at an inn called the Anax Inn. But one night, people suddenly barged in, broke everything, and took her away.”
Recalling the memory, Pyrr trembled like a leaf.
“Who was it that kidnapped her?”
“……I don’t know.”
Given her age and limited vocabulary, it seemed difficult to get a precise description. However, McCally seemed to have an inkling of who it might be and asked another question.
