Chapter 24
A week had already passed since the training at Mystic Mountain had come to an end.
Rustle, rustle.
Khal, confined to his bed for recovery due to his injuries, was spending his time reading through a vast pile of books.
“Young Master, wouldn’t it be better to just rest at a time like this?”
Rain, the maid attending to him, poured brewed black tea into a cup and handed it to Khal.
Taking the cup, Khal twitched an eyebrow before speaking.
“I’m already healed. I’m only staying put because of a certain meddlesome woman.”
“Well, sorry for being so meddlesome then.”
“Pfft!”
Startled by the voice coming from beyond the door, Khal spat out a mouthful of tea and looked toward Lily, who was loitering outside.
“I keep coming back because you’re so stubborn and keep doing things that make people worry. What kind of crazy person in this world thinks of taking down a pack of Dire Wolves by themselves? Do you have any idea how shocked I was when I heard that story from Chloe?”
“It wasn’t that big of a deal.”
Snap!
“What do you mean, it wasn’t a big deal! Anyone could see it was a dire situation.”
“Ugh.”
Khal’s expression crumpled as the scolding showed no signs of stopping.
“There you go again, making that face like it’s a chore to deal with me.”
Having already seen right through him, Lily twitched her eyebrows in annoyance.
“Why are you here today? I’ve already looked through all the study materials you transcribed for me.”
