Chapter 155. Suspicion
“Shall we go then?”
“Yes~ I’ll eat once we reach the main road.”
“No, eat now. The road branches both north and south.”
“Ah, alright.”
Immediately after the Night Raid, we prepared to depart. It was a bit too late to go back to sleep. Moreover, we only had one strand of hair left. So, we decided to track for just four more hours, then head home early to rest comfortably. Since it was still quite dark, I picked up both Euna and Hyeji.
“The direction is this way.”
“Is that so? Hmm… Alright, let’s go.”
I walked a little faster in the direction Hyeji pointed. We weren’t on an Asphalt Road, but crossing dried rice paddies instead.
“How is it? Is this the right direction we’re walking?”
“Yes, it is. We just need to keep going straight.”
I checked the direction periodically as we walked. Since we were following where Hyeji pointed with her finger, there was a chance the direction could slightly deviate. However, the direction she was pointing was significantly different from yesterday’s.
*Strange… It’s too far south compared to yesterday.*
As I watched her finger point, a slight doubt stirred within me. We were still heading east, but our current path was quite different from the last direction I’d confirmed yesterday evening. Yesterday, I had drawn a hypothetical line on the Map as we moved. I’d checked the cities that intersected that line, constantly verifying our direction to maintain a straight path. I’d have to pull out the Map and double-check once the sun rose, but at least in the mental Map I held, the line’s position had shifted considerably.
