Chapter 115. Rescue
“Damn it… just you wait.”
I’d decided to fight the Zombies as they came, steadily whittling down their numbers. But this time, I had no choice but to retreat, muttering a villain’s pathetic line. The continuous Guerrilla Warfare had forced them to change their strategy.
The Zombie Faction Leader, still shrouded in mystery. It seemed they’d realized that the sheer number of Normal Zombies held little significance.
*Just how smart is this thing?*
It disbanded its gathered Zombie Legion and concentrated on deploying Mutated Zombies. The Normal Zombies spread out, beginning to hide themselves inside buildings. Just as I’d hunt them down like a game of hide-and-seek, a squad of Mutated Zombies would appear. At least ten or more Mutated Zombies, with far superior Physical Abilities than Normal Zombies, would emerge all at once.
*My Baseball Bat is going to break first at this rate…*
The Mutated Zombies that appeared tried to protect their Heads by any means. They’d sacrifice an arm or a shoulder, trying to grab hold of me and cling on. This was crucial. They weren’t mindlessly trying to bite; they were clearly reaching out with the intent to capture.
It was no longer a One-Shot One-Kill situation. If the fight dragged on, other types of Mutated Zombies would start appearing on the battlefield, one by one.
*Where should I run? Should I just go look for the Kid?*
There was a limit to how long I could keep running, leaping over walls and between buildings. The Normal Zombies, scattered everywhere, acted as their eyes and ears, constantly tracking my location. I’d scoffed at it, thinking, *What kind of Inescapable Net is this?* But now, I truly felt like I was sinking into a sticky swamp.
