Chapter 116. Rescue
Clang!
Thump, thump, thud.
The sounds from outside startled me awake.
‘Ugh… What did they break now?’
Outside, the pre-dawn sky was still dark.
‘What time is it…’
It was 2 AM.
My mind was still a bit hazy as I wondered why the Kid was wandering around at this hour.
Grrr…
Then, a low zombie growl reached my ears.
My mind instantly cleared, and I shot up.
I grabbed my Baseball Bat and quietly approached the door.
‘No way… Did a zombie get in?’
Holding my breath, I crouched by the door and listened intently.
Now, no sound could be heard, but I was certain a zombie was out there.
The very thing I had worried about had come true, and a wave of irritation washed over me.
‘I should have insisted more and slept together…’
If the main gate had made a rusty sound like other houses, I would have known before it entered the house.
At least I woke up to the sharp sound of breaking glass. That was a relief.
‘The sound definitely came from the living room. What should I do…’
I still didn’t have a clear grasp of the situation.
How many zombies had gotten in? Was the Kid safe? What was the situation like outside the house?
After staying still for a long time, an unpleasant odor wafted up.
My matted hair and face were unpleasantly greasy.
My tightly clenched hands felt sticky, so I rubbed them against my clothes to wipe them off.
‘I really need to use some spray shampoo. I can’t stand this anymore.’
Anyway, how long did I have to stay like this?
‘Could they have left by now?’
I didn’t know how they searched the inside of buildings.
