Chapter 107. Raid
I set down my belongings in a corner of the small front yard.
I decided to go inside.
Taking only my weapon, I cautiously approached the house.
If it was a zombie, I’d deal with it and rest. But if it was a person…
*What if it’s a person?*
As I pondered, a small glint of light briefly flashed through the gap in the curtains covering a window.
It vanished so quickly I wondered if I’d imagined it.
*What was that? Like a mirror?*
It definitely wasn’t a flashlight. It looked like light reflecting off something.
That significantly increased the probability of someone being inside.
What should I do if it was a person?
*Creak*
I hesitated for a moment, wondering if I should retreat, when the entrance door slowly opened.
*Did all the doors in this house rust or something?*
With an eerie creak, the gap in the door widened.
*Flap*
“Shit…”
A white cloth-like object poked its head through the door’s opening. It hung long, fluttering in the air, with no sign of legs beneath it. The ghostly shape made me gasp.
*Sway, sway*
“W-what is it? A ghost?”
I extended my Baseball Bat and spoke softly. With zombies roaming around, ghosts might as well exist. The question was, could I smash a ghost’s head?
*Sliiiide*
“Huh?”
Something slid out from under the white cloth floating in the air. It was a small box wrapped in plastic.
“What is this… Cigarettes?”
*Flap, flap*
“Hey. Speak. Or can’t you speak?”
