Chapter 108. Bond
The Ghost, approaching the Staff Lounge, stopped a short distance away.
The white cloth, fluttering for a moment where it stopped, soon fell to the side.
What appeared from behind it was someone wearing a black raincoat…
“The Kid?”
A small figure, barely looking like a middle schooler at best.
The Kid in the black raincoat picked up the white cloth again.
They hooked the cloth onto the end of the Iron Pipe they held in one hand and swung it widely from side to side.
“Hmm… surrender?”
This time, I asked, raising my voice slightly.
As if I’d hit the mark, the kid bowed their waist as if in greeting.
So, last night too, they had offered the white cloth as a sign of surrender.
It wasn’t a Ghost impersonation after all.
“So, what brings you here…?”
The kid set down the Backpack they were wearing and rummaged around, pulling something out.
What they pulled out were the Cigarettes I’d given them yesterday.
Then, they rubbed their stomach with both hands.
“Uh… right answer. You’re hungry?”
Again, the kid bowed twice.
Their face was hidden by the deeply pulled-down raincoat hood.
Is that why they kept bowing?
“But why don’t you speak? It’s frustrating.”
Again, they kept bowing repeatedly.
It’s not like we’re playing charades…
Why are we playing this game?
“Wait a moment.”
The kid didn’t approach any closer than a certain distance.
Considering how young they were and that they’d survived this long, such caution was only natural.
