Chapter 103. Relocation
Leaving the University District behind, I emerged onto the main road.
The streets remained eerily still.
Feeling the unsettling quiet of the deserted road, I quickened my pace. The Seoul I knew was never this silent, not even in the dead of night.
‘It’s strange how silence can be so terrifying…’
[Hoegi Station]
The bloodstains covering the station windows seemed to reject any human approach. It looked like there wouldn’t be much to scavenge there, and I certainly wouldn’t find anything pleasant.
So, I took a wide detour around Hoegi Station and stepped onto the bus-only lane of National Road 6. I moved quickly along the wide, six-lane road.
‘Wow, there really aren’t any zombies.’
Not only were there few zombies in the middle of the road, but there were also hardly any cars. Most vehicles had crashed onto the sidewalks, overturned. There were no standing zombies, but some driver’s seats still held skeletal remains.
‘How could they be reduced to mere bones already?’
A small question lingered in my mind as I diligently scanned my surroundings while moving. If someone was secretly watching, they would surely approach. My figure, pushing a cart piled high with Double Bags, would undoubtedly pique human curiosity or greed.
‘Is this what they call a Golden Goblin? Heheh.’
I let out a small chuckle, recalling a story I’d once heard. In truth, no one was targeting me, and I might just be scaring myself. But those who possess something can’t help but be suspicious of their surroundings.
