Chapter 81
“You intend to promote exchange with the elves?”
Lily’s declaration rippled through the students belonging to Elemental Spirit.
The elves, often called the noble guardians of the forest, were objects of awe for humans due to their ethereal beauty, but they were also targets of greed. In various corners of the continent, the clandestine trade of elven slaves still persisted. Consequently, the elves harbored deep-seated suspicion and hostility toward humanity.
Reactions to Lily’s proposal were split down the middle.
Some showed profound interest in her pledge, while others expressed significant concern.
Lily followed up by presenting the grounds to support her argument.
“What Partes Academy pursues is a leap in talent through a fair system, not decline fueled by prejudice. While there will inevitably be confusion in the short term, I am certain that the benefits of this policy will eventually reach every one of you.”
“Certainly.”
Professor Alberton Rho, the head of Elemental Spirit, nodded thoughtfully.
Growth cannot exist without competition. However, pursuing only competition and growth often led to stagnation. In such cases, a new approach was necessary, and Lily had just proposed exactly that as her campaign pledge.
The Elves.
While exchange would be difficult due to complex interests, they were born with a natural affinity for the four elements unlike humans, and they could manipulate mana with far greater freedom. Simply observing their magic would undoubtedly benefit the students. Most importantly, her pledge aligned perfectly with Isilia’s national policy.
