Chapter 27
A quiet dawn.
In a dark room shrouded by curtains, a man whose face was covered in bruises and lumps sat in a chair.
Although his limbs were tied to the chair, he hadn’t exactly been tortured.
He had merely tried to bite his tongue to commit suicide to avoid revealing Kantuberg’s location, and Khal had simply beaten him until he regained his senses after stopping him.
“It’s not torture.”
In a way, since he had prevented a person’s death, this wasn’t torture.
It was merely a part of ‘rehabilitation.’
That was how Khal justified his actions.
Swish.
“Eek!! G-gaah!”
Faced with Khal’s crimson eyes once again, the man began to convulse, frothing at the mouth.
Crack.
As Khal cracked his knuckles once more, the man snapped back to his senses immediately.
“K-Kantuberg is conducting experiments at a secret villa prepared by Viscount Winston.”
“…”
Khal was slightly taken aback by how he spilled everything without a moment’s hesitation.
However, Khal soon spoke with a cold expression.
“What kind of experiments is he doing?”
“He is researching undying soldiers.”
“Something like ghouls, then?”
“It’s similar, but the goal he pursues is immortality.”
Khal could piece together the situation from these fragments of information.
“It must have been an expensive experiment. That’s why he set up a business in Isilia to raise funds. He probably lured Viscount Winston with the promise of eternal life, right? By now, he’s likely realized things have gone south and is preparing to flee.”
