Chapter 78. Awakening
After the meeting, I stepped out onto the road in front of the Apartment. I planned to move the cars scattered along the roadside.
“Are you really going to be okay by yourself?”
“I’ll be fine. There’s plenty to do inside too. But how long are you going to keep touching Sujin’s cheek?”
“Ah, I didn’t even realize… It’s surprisingly addictive.”
“Look how red it’s gotten, hehehe. I bet she’ll complain it hurts when she wakes up later.”
Eunmi followed, pushing Sujin’s wheelchair. While outside, I planned to use my Mapping Ability to monitor our surroundings and, if necessary, grab both of them and make a run for it.
“This car is the closest, are you going to pass on it? It looks perfectly fine.”
“Yeah, take a look inside the driver’s seat. The owner put it in park, engaged the handbrake, and took the keys.”
On the day of the incident, things must have been chaotic and urgent, so was this car owner not in a hurry? Or perhaps it was just a force of habit.
“Let’s look for an easier car to move.”
“I see. If only I could use my Ability, I’d just disable the brakes entirely.”
“That would certainly make it easier. We could all just gently push it together.”
I checked only if the car could be moved, regardless of its make or condition. The car I just checked was an anomaly; most cars weren’t parked with the handbrake engaged or in gear. Most had simply crashed into something while driving and stopped there.
