Chapter 77. Pack of Dogs
“Raid Leader!”
“How far have they come?”
“They’ve stopped over there.”
I sprinted up to the rooftop and listened to Yejin’s explanation.
My gaze followed the direction she pointed.
I focused my eyes, scanning the three-way intersection near the building where Minsu had been staying.
A Wild Dog Pack lay prone on their bellies all over the road.
“Where did the person being chased go?”
“I don’t know. They went around the back of that building, but only the dogs came back out.”
“What in the world is going on…? Was it even a person?”
“Actually, I’m not sure about that either. It was too far away. At first, I naturally assumed it was a person, but…”
Soon after, two more wild dogs appeared from the park and joined the pack.
The Wild Dog Pack, which had been lying down, rose and moved further into Zone A.
—Static. Oppa, we’re ready. We’ll head down now.
—Hold on a moment.
“It doesn’t seem like they’re coming for us, at least for now. Keep a close watch and bear with it a little longer.”
“Okay…”
Yejin’s feeble reply came back.
It was almost time for the shift change, so she was probably exhausted and then suddenly tensed up.
I gave her a reassuring pat on the shoulder and descended from the rooftop.
“What happened?”
“I’m not sure either. I asked Yejin again if it was a person, but she said she didn’t know.”
“Oh dear… But you said they were running away? Wouldn’t that mean it was a person?”
“Who knows… She said her view was blocked by the building, and she lost sight of them midway.”
I talked with the gathered Raid Members.
