Chapter 72. Yuwol
“Oh, right! Mister, I remember seeing the security guards wearing walkie-talkies. What if we tried to find one?”
“Oh? There are walkie-talkies?”
“Yes, I definitely saw them clipped to their waists.”
I was deep in thought, trying to figure out how to organize the group.
Gayoung suddenly spoke up, mentioning walkie-talkies, as if a thought had just struck her.
A walkie-talkie would certainly make things easier.
*That must have been a real pain for them.*
“Wouldn’t they be in the Guard Office?”
I felt a pang of sympathy for those who had to work wearing those walkie-talkies.
Thanks to them, it seemed we’d have a means of communication. It had been really inconvenient since Cell Phones stopped working, so this was a relief.
“For now, Eunmi and Yejin will come with me.”
“Okay, if you think that’s for the best.”
“Then I’ll stay here and keep using my Ability to monitor the surroundings.”
“Alright. But no matter what happens, don’t cross the Barricade. Just focus on defense.”
Judging by the speed they were running, I figured I could outrun them. Even if that wasn’t their top speed, I still had some leeway.
“I’ll head down first. Take your time getting ready and then come out.”
I went down to the 1st floor and smoked a cigarette inside the Barricade.
A semicircular Barricade surrounded the common Apartment Entrance. It was roughly 30 pyeong, I guess? In the yard-like space, a pile of stones was stacked on one side, and I’d prepared steel marbles and other good throwing objects. I’d also brought over chairs, crudely made ladders, and Ropes. This place was like a castle wall in ancient times. It wasn’t poured concrete, nor was it built with stone walls. It wasn’t sturdy, but it was a Barricade built to keep out intruders. Its exterior looked like a patchwork, made from all sorts of furniture and home appliances. I’d built it hastily over a week, but I planned to reinforce it gradually. Later, I even planned to drag abandoned cars from the road and try adding steel plates to it.
