Chapter 66. Role
“Gayoung. Can you create four Shields for us to use as footholds?”
“Oh! Should I give it a try?”
Gayoung had also gained the detailed trait of Increased Durability. It was the same trait Seonyoung possessed, and thanks to it, the weakness of the Shields breaking easily could now be compensated for. She had quite a bit of Acquired points saved up, so after discussing it with me, she invested all of them.
“Shield.”
Thud, thud, thud, thud.
I stepped onto a Shield she had generated low to the ground, putting my full weight on it. Then I jumped to the adjacent Shield and went back and forth a few times.
“Oh, it’s much sturdier now, isn’t it? It’s not breaking.”
“Hehe… How is it? You’re planning to step on the Shields to go upstairs, right?”
“Yeah. This should be enough. It didn’t break even after I jumped on it several times.”
This could change our combat tactics. I’d only thought about it since Seonyoung gained the ability to move Shields, but it seems aerial combat might be possible. Gayoung has multi-creation, so she might be able to control the air more easily than Seonyoung. If our coordination is good, she could even create footholds for me. It won’t be easy, but I should start practicing today.
“Then, shall we check the apartment next door?”
We left the apartment, and Gayoung created Shields from the stairwell window. They were close enough for me to reach with a slight jump, so she only made two. I first stepped onto the windowsill, then crossed over to the first Shield.
