We finished preparing to depart early the next morning.
“Taesik-gun. Please visit us often in the future.”
“Yes, I will.”
“It seems we’ll be expanding our territory north for a while. While the Zombies are sluggish.”
I didn’t need to worry about the Ark Annihilation Alliance. After talking yesterday, I knew they weren’t without their own discord. Still, they had hope. All their members were steadily moving towards the common goal of survival. The Principal was their focal point.
“I look forward to hearing good news the next time we meet.”
“Yes. Thank you. Please take care, Principal.”
The Principal glanced at Seonyoung and let out a hearty laugh. I had already given him information about the Mutants. Yet, the Principal smiled as if he had no worries. His smile somehow put me at ease.
With that short farewell, we set off.
On our way home, snow began to fall. It had been snowing since last night. The sky was filled with storm clouds, and the world was dark. Everything was painted in white snow and ash-gray, as if it had lost all color. At least there was no wind, which was a relief.
“Aren’t you tired?”
“No. I’m still fine.”
“There’s no need to rush, so don’t overdo it.”
Perhaps because the sun wasn’t out, I felt a dark and gloomy atmosphere. Looking around the path we walked, it felt more like a ruined world than ever before.
“Still, I like it. I don’t know how long it’s been since we walked together like this, just the two of us.”
“Really?”
“Yes. We used to go everywhere together, remember? When we first started Farming.”
