Chapter 359. Expedition
We lay side by side, but sleep wouldn’t come. It was still too early to fall asleep.
*Wow… Hye-won fell asleep the moment her head hit the pillow.*
Contrary to my thoughts, Hye-won immediately drifted off. Had today’s schedule been that tough? Thinking back, it hadn’t been particularly grueling. Hye-won’s deep, soft breathing filled the small tent. She wasn’t just closing her eyes; she was truly asleep.
While her mother fell asleep instantly, Heesu’s eyes were wide open.
“Mister, what are you doing?”
“Oh, I’m writing my diary.”
I was in the middle of writing my diary. I had been writing in a prone position, but when I looked up for a moment, my eyes met Heesu’s. Perhaps bored, she crawled over Ina to reach me. Ina was also writing her diary.
“Unnie writes a diary, and Mister writes a diary too?”
“Yep.”
“Why? Why do you write diaries?”
Her expression showed genuine curiosity.
“I used to have diary homework, but I always put it off because it was annoying.”
“Really?”
“Yes. So I’d write it all at once. Do you write every day, Mister?”
“I try to, if possible. Sometimes I write a few days’ worth later.”
Heesu snuggled close to me and lowered her voice. I put down the pen I was holding.
“Can’t sleep?”
“No. I’ll sleep a little later.”
What was it? Did she want me to play with her? Heesu looked at me with a bright smile when our eyes met. I had no idea what to do. Young children were still unfamiliar to me.
