Chapter 347. Settlement

Chapter 347. Settlement

The reason I hadn’t found any wood by the roadside was because of Mister Dog Owner.

He had moved all the logs that were piled up along the road to this very spot.

All those massive heaps covered by waterproof tarps were logs.

“How much do you need?”

“Hmm… I can’t quite tell.”

“Then just take some for now, and come back for more later.”

Mister Dog Owner didn’t seem to have any intention of trading these logs with me. Perhaps he was doing some calculations in his head, but I decided to trust him. The elders in the village had always treated me with a friendly attitude, from beginning to end. I suppressed my reflexive defense mechanism to probe his true feelings and simply thanked him.

“Stay for lunch.”

“No, thank you. We’d just be adding more mouths to feed.”

“You’ll be colder if you’re hungry. Take it.”

“Yes… Thank you.”

I looked at Mister Dog Owner’s wrinkled face. He had a blunt impression. Unshaven stubble covered his lower jaw, and his mouth was stubbornly set in a straight line. Yet, his appearance felt far more trustworthy than Lee Min-ho, who had smiled in front of me.

“Still, there’s one good thing about the snow.”

“Oh? Isn’t it hard to clear?”

“That’s true, but…”

On the way back to the house where the elders were staying, Mister Dog Owner suddenly spoke.

“It’s all water.”
