Chapter 346. Settlement
After finishing preparations to go out, I headed down to the 1st floor.
In the quiet living room, Joina was waiting for me, fully armed. No skin was visible except for around her eyes. With goggles on top of that, she’d be completely bundled up from head to toe.
“Ready?”
“Yes.”
Originally, I had planned to go out alone. The entire world was covered in snow, making it difficult to walk. More people meant slower movement. However, Joina’s Ability had an unexpected side effect. She could run across the snowfield.
“No need to push yourself. You’re really okay, right?”
“Yes. I’m sure.”
“Alright.”
Her Ability was called ‘Obstacle Course’. I hadn’t confirmed it myself yet, but she could probably run on icy roads without issue. As long as it wasn’t something she couldn’t step on at all, like a water surface, she could run anywhere. That’s why only Joina was coming with me for reconnaissance.
I asked if she was okay again because of the cold. In this kind of weather, walking wasn’t the problem; simply being outside was torture. Still, the others in our group said it would be better if Joina and I went together. They argued that I, too, could suffer an unforeseen accident, so I needed a companion.
Truth be told, I only thought of her as an errand runner I could use in a pinch. Or just someone to talk to.
‘If something serious were to happen to me, wouldn’t it happen regardless of whether someone was by my side or not?’
