Chapter 322. Karma
Lee Min-ho’s snake-like smile came to mind.
In the short time we spent face-to-face, he had shown me a great deal.
“Bright.”
“Huh?”
“The school those bastards are staying at. All the windows were intact, and the interior was bright.”
When I was in school, almost all humanities high schools had mandatory evening self-study. After training until sunset, I’d step out onto the sports field and see bright light spilling from the school building. Even a few years ago, on my way home from work, the neighborhood high school would always have its lights on.
It was like seeing an everyday scene that felt like a lie from a distant past.
“He gave me a drink with a cup full of ice. The clothes he wore were impeccably clean, and his hair looked like it had been recently styled.”
The Company’s base was located where a middle school and a high school building stood side-by-side. There were four large buildings alone. If all those buildings were lit up, how many people must be living inside?
“You saw the Suit Joina was wearing, right? It was stiff, like it had just been ironed.”
“Yeah. Her makeup was thick too. Though her makeup skills seemed a bit lacking.”
Lee Min-ho had shown me a glimpse of their daily life. Naturally, as if it were always a given, without a single boast.
“Lee Min-ho and Joina were the only two I met. They didn’t even carry weapons.”
“The possibility of hidden security personnel nearby?”
“It’s not impossible. If they were hidden by an Ability, I might not have noticed. But in any case, I only heard the breathing of those two.”
