Chapter 213. Flood
After the test run, we set off.
Only three of us were on the boat: me, Euna, and the Ark Annihilation Alliance woman capable of ranged attacks.
She introduced herself as Yuri.
To rescue as many people as possible at once, we kept our numbers to a minimum. We’d tested it before leaving; this boat could easily carry over twenty people if they sat packed together, and it handled the weight without issue.
“Wow, the water makes it hard to tell where the path is.”
“That way.”
“Alright.”
The Ark Annihilation Alliance woman accompanying us guided the way. It turned out she was someone I’d met before—at least, from my perspective. A few days ago, I’d bought something from a woman with a shaved head who was running a stall at the Ark Market. She was a baby’s mother, and her husband was supposed to join our rescue team.
*Wait, she’s a woman too, so it wouldn’t be ‘husband,’ would it? What should I call them?*
They were a female couple. I distinctly heard them call each other ‘honey’ and ‘dear,’ so they weren’t just friends or close acquaintances. It was my first time seeing a lesbian couple, and what was also unusual was that this woman, like the baby’s mother, had a shaved head. If we ever got closer, I wanted to ask why she shaved her head.
“That spot looks good. I’m going.”
“Okay.” “Yes. Please be careful.”
I wrapped the rope around my body and jumped. I stepped on a sign, its edge barely peeking above the water’s surface, and jumped again. I landed on the rooftop of a building.
