Chapter 207. Night Raid
White floor tiles were laid seamlessly in front of the Department Store Entrance.
A considerably wide area was an open clearing paved only with these floor tiles, and we were currently facing off in this plaza-like space.
“Cult leader. The subway tracks are completely flooded.”
“Flooded?”
“Yes. The tunnel is filled with water.”
One of the men from the Ark whispered the situation to the Cult leader. He probably thought he was being quiet, but I could overhear every word they said.
“The underground drains have ceased to function, and it seems the sewers will soon backflow.”
“Is it dangerous?”
“Yes. The roads are expected to be submerged soon. Water will start rising rapidly, and we need to prepare for isolation…”
Overhearing their predictions, I glanced again at the outskirts of the plaza. Water was gushing out of the manhole covers where the department store plaza met the Asphalt Road. Even on the white floor tiles where we stood, the water already splashed with every step.
My gaze returned to the front, where the Cult leader, having heard the man’s report, had hardened his expression.
“It seems we don’t have much time left.”
“So? What are you going to do? Stop talking nonsense and answer me.”
I had overheard their entire conversation, but I feigned ignorance and loosened my hands. I could feel the Ark guys subtly tightening their encirclement.
