Chapter 177. Monsoon
It was exactly as the woman had described.
The former photographer’s ability was to freeze any subject he perceived. Although he called them ‘subjects,’ it seemed he could activate his ability even without a camera or other recording device in hand. After all, he had just frozen me while clutching his own head with both hands.
Assuming man-to-man combat, it was a truly formidable ability.
However, it wasn’t without its drawbacks. He couldn’t freeze an opponent indefinitely until a desired moment; he could only stop them like a photograph for a set duration.
Could he truly kill me within such a short span of 10 seconds? Even if he held a knife, I doubted whether his ordinary physical abilities would be enough to kill me.
“You fucking bastard.”
He picked up the large scythe that had fallen to the floor. He moved frantically, as if confirming the 10-second freeze duration he’d mentioned. Even with Body Reinforcement, being utterly unable to move while watching the man pick up the scythe and approach was unnerving.
“Die!”
Whoosh, Thud!
“Ugh…”
He had charged at me, only to freeze mid-stride with one arm raised. An arrow embedded in his chest. His eyes wide, he tried to swing the scythe again.
“No, *you’re* the one dying.”
His mouth opened, as if the time limit had expired. Quickly regaining my balance, I kicked his leg.
Thud-thud-thud!
I approached the man, who had fallen with a loud crash. The arrow had struck him, but it seemed to have missed any vital spots. I struck his head with my palm, knocking him unconscious.
