Chapter 176. Monsoon
“Please don’t be too surprised. Um… first of all, I apologize for showing up so abruptly.”
The woman stopped sobbing the moment I called out to her.
She fidgeted, her back turned as if composing herself.
“I know this isn’t the best timing, but there’s something I’d like to ask. Do you have a moment?”
Finally, the woman turned around.
Her face was mostly hidden by a wide-brimmed hat.
For a woman, she seemed quite tall, almost 170 cm.
“Phew… Speak. No, before that, how did you get in?”
“The door was open, so I just walked in.”
“This is the inner area… Didn’t you stop by the house?”
“No. I just passed by, intending to look around the Pasture first.”
I explained why I had come to the Ranch.
As I spoke, the woman raised her head and looked at me.
One side of her face was swollen red.
Tear streaks remained on her face, revealing traces of arduous labor.
The dark circles under her eyes created the illusion that even the observer felt exhausted.
“That’s why I stopped by. If you’re the Ranch owner, I’d like to make a trade.”
“I’m not the owner, but… we don’t have any cattle to trade right now.”
There was only one cow left in the Cow Shed.
It looked like an ordinary dairy cow.
She seemed to have misunderstood my words.
“I’m not asking for meat. Could I get some milk?”
“Milk, too… No. More importantly, please leave this place quickly. You’ll be in danger if *they* find you.”
The woman’s lips parted a few times before she suddenly ordered us to leave.
She didn’t properly answer whether she was the Ranch owner or why a trade was impossible.
