Chapter 152. Suspicion
“First, let’s consider that they couldn’t lock the door, rather than simply didn’t.”
“Okay.”
“So, why couldn’t they lock the door?”
This was a Campsite the couple had cherished and protected.
We assumed they either had to abandon the Campsite and leave in a hurry, or, in the worst-case scenario, both of them might have died.
“If something happened outside and they couldn’t return, shouldn’t the door be locked? Maybe they… were at the Campsite and then fled?”
“Fled? What would they need to flee from in a neighborhood with so few Zombies?”
“The most likely culprit would be humans. Though wild animals are also a possibility.”
At Hyeji’s words, I looked around.
At least, everything visible matched what I remembered.
Had they been attacked by humans or beasts, and simply couldn’t even think of fighting back?
There were no traces of battle whatsoever.
“If there had been an attack, there should be signs of a struggle. But there’s nothing like that…”
“Should we search inside the house too?”
“Yes. Let’s search together.”
We first headed to the leftmost house, where the couple had been staying.
The inside of the house was a mess.
“Whoa… what a disaster.”
“Indeed. Something definitely happened here.”
“Let’s quickly check the other houses first.”
The other two wooden houses were also completely ransacked.
Hoping to find some clue, we went back to examine the first house more closely.
After a detailed inspection, we concluded that there had been no fight inside the house.
If there had been a struggle involving Abilities, there should have been broken furniture or some other traces.
