Chapter 151. Suspicion
“Euna. Move aside.”
I set down the rock I’d picked up from the ditch, a rock as large as my torso.
Euna, who had stepped aside, immediately began Synthesis, filling it with small pebbles.
The weather had grown drastically hotter over the past few days, and sweat poured down me.
“Phew…”
“Oppa~ Lunch is ready!”
“Oh~ I’ll just splash some water on myself and be right there.”
Hyeji called out to me from the Entrance Door.
She now called me Oppa without a second thought for Euna.
“Let’s go, Euna.”
“Okay.”
Euna and I headed to the Storage Room side by side.
After stopping by the Storage Room, we’d quickly wipe off the sweat with groundwater and then eat the lunch Hyeji had prepared.
The incessant buzzing of cicadas filled the air.
As we walked, the loud chirping of cicadas filled the air from all directions.
Mid-July.
I had thought the real heat began in June.
I was mistaken.
Last month, I’d thought the heat was unbearable, but that was actually tolerable.
Now, every single day was a heatwave.
“Me first?”
“Yeah.”
Squeak, squeak, *pshhh*.
Euna pumped the water up.
The groundwater was no longer bone-chillingly cold.
Still, it was cool.
I quickly washed myself, then pumped water for Euna too.
Afterward, we stood side by side, drying ourselves.
“How is it? Has she said anything unusual lately?”
“No. Nothing.”
“Nothing *said*? Then is there something else?”
“Her gaze is a little strange. But how long are we going to keep this up?”
Euna’s and my verification process, which began with suspicion towards Hyeji, was proceeding smoothly.
