Chapter 122. Escape
Swoosh. Thump.
Slowly, the hood was pulled back, finally revealing Euna’s face.
Her head was remarkably small, like a child’s.
Her large, round eyes were reminiscent of a puppy.
Her soft, milky cheeks, still retaining their baby fat, held an irresistible charm that made one want to pinch them.
“It’s grotesque, isn’t it…”
“You must have been in a lot of pain. Let’s eat.”
When Euna looked at me, I carefully maintained a neutral expression, pretending it was nothing.
And so, without much conversation, we picked up our Spoons.
The reason she had hidden her face for so long was due to burn scars.
I had already guessed as much when she told me the story of losing her parents in a car accident.
From one side of her forehead down to her cheekbone, as if her face had been split in half, a dark red burn scar remained, disfiguring her.
Unlike her other milky-smooth skin, the rough, bumpy texture of the scar was now so severe that it seemed more painful for the beholder.
Crucially, one eye had no visible pupil.
She had lost sight in that eye due to the burn at the age of five.
“They said I was creepy, a monster.”
“Those bastards.”
“I heard a lot of people tell me to cover my face, not to shove it in front of them.”
“What utter sons of bitches.”
After finishing her meal, Euna began to speak calmly.
“The children would laugh, tease, and bully me. My name would come up for every bad thing, without reason, and the bullying never ended. Not a single person was on my side… they either hated me or avoided me. I thought about dying so many times…”
