Chapter 32 The Child of Heavenly Scourge
Peng Ja-ryeong waited for Peng Ha-ryeong, arms crossed.
He had more than a few questions. Even after Peng Ha-ryeong took her seat beside Murong Hye, directly opposite Peng Ja-ryeong himself, he still pondered where to begin.
It was Murong Hye who broke the silence first.
“Ha-ryeong-a.”
“Yes, Mother.”
“What kind of person is your Benefactor?”
It was a fundamental question, yet none could better satisfy their immense curiosity.
Peng Ha-ryeong hummed, briefly organizing her thoughts, then replied, “I don’t really know.”
“What do you mean by… No, continue.”
Peng Ja-ryeong had momentarily lost his composure, his body jolting forward, but he quickly regained his self-control, befitting a Young Clan Head, and settled back into his Seat of Honor.
Peng Ha-ryeong reflected on Namgung-woo, whom she had observed during their time together.
They had only spent three days together, at most.
If she included Wu’an County, it would stretch to five days.
This was far too short a time to truly know a person. Moreover, Namgung-woo wasn’t one to speak much about himself. Usually, the Yang brothers would step in to speak on his behalf. Even though those brothers hadn’t spent much more time with Namgung-woo than the Peng Clan members, their behavior was somehow peculiar.
Clearly, the two brothers must have heard some secret from Namgung-woo that he hadn’t revealed to the Peng Clan.
That was why they acted as if they were protecting Namgung-woo. The Yang brothers seemed to think the Peng Clan wouldn’t notice, but they were far from fooling the discerning eyes of the Peng Clan members.
