Chapter 148 A Clue for What’s Next
After finishing his conversation with Song U-jeol, Namgung-woo followed Zhuge Seon-a’s call that dinner was ready. As soon as Namgung-woo received his food, people quickly gathered around to eat with him.
Peng Ha-ryeong, Zhuge Seon-a, Namgung Sol… Myorin clicked their tongue, seeing the three women immediately claim their seats, while Song Chae-ji turned towards the Seonpung Unit members.
However, Namgung-woo gently persuaded the three to leave and headed somewhere else alone.
“May I sit beside you for a moment?”
“…Of course.”
The prior guest, Byeong Chan-ju, readily made space for Namgung-woo.
As Namgung-woo sat down, a slight tension flickered across his face. Though quickly hidden by an expressionless face, the undeniable muscle rigidity revealed a part of the emotions he was feeling.
Clang.
Dinner was brief. Namgung-woo, not yet fully recovered, only took a few spoonfuls before stopping, while the prior guest, feeling unnecessarily self-conscious, quickly emptied their bowl, moving their spoon in a hurry.
“Do you intend to return?”
Namgung-woo’s seemingly vague question created a large ripple in the heart of the prior guest, Byeong Chan-ju.
They bit their lip, then painfully squeezed out a voice.
“What… do you mean?”
“Exactly as I said. I’m asking if you intend to return to Namgung.”
Namgung-woo’s words were calm. His voice, without much fluctuation, seemed not to consider the possibility that Byeong Chan-ju was not of the Namgung Clan.
