Chapter 64
Chapter 64 – Blood Wine
Qin Yefeng took the wine Ming Yuexin handed him. Unmoved, he brought it straight to his lips, ready to drink.
Ming Yuexin grew anxious. Seeing that he ignored her warning, she quickly struck the cup from his hand.
Clang!
The cup fell to the ground, and the crimson wine splashed everywhere, staining her blue dress a blood-red color.
But she paid no attention to her ruined clothes. Her wide eyes were fixed on Qin Yefeng, afraid he might be harmed.
As the wine spilled, the eunuch holding the tray immediately dropped to his knees, while palace maids hurried over to clean the floor.
“Useless! You can’t even handle such a small task? Drag these worthless fools out and behead them!” the emperor roared upon seeing this.
In an instant, the festive atmosphere froze. Everyone stared in shock.
Guards with drawn swords rushed in from outside, preparing to take the kneeling eunuch and maids away.
“No—spare us!” they cried, kowtowing desperately.
“Father, this is my fault. It has nothing to do with them,” Ming Yuexin pleaded, unable to bear innocent people dying because of her.
“Yue’er, my mood was already ruined. If I don’t punish them, my anger won’t subside. Say another word and even you will be punished,” the emperor replied coldly.
Ignoring her plea, he insisted on their execution.
At that moment, Qin Yefeng poured himself another cup of the blood-red wine. After drinking it in one gulp, he smiled at the emperor.
“Your Majesty, we haven’t even finished enjoying the wine. Killing people now would ruin the atmosphere, wouldn’t it?”
