Chapter 72: Die or Freeze 1
Jin Sohye opened her eyes.
Baek Moo-jin sat at the foot of the bed, his eyes level with hers as he watched her. He had been silently watching her until she sat up on her own. Except for when she was very young, Jin So-hye had never once experienced someone staring at her like this the moment she opened her eyes.
It felt strange.
To see a loved one the moment she opened her eyes.
Baek Moo-jin gently tapped Jin So-hye’s cheek as he spoke.
“Did you sleep well?”
“Yes. When did the breathing exercises end?”
“Before sunrise.”
“How long have you been watching me?”
“Right after the breathing exercise ended.”
Before Jin Sohye could smile and reply, Baek Mujin’s stomach growled loudly. Jin Sohye realized Baek Mujin had been watching her while enduring his hunger. Though it wasn’t his intention, she spoke as if impressed.
“Why don’t you go down alone and get something to eat? I’d love to make you some Noseua-pyeon, but that’s probably impossible here, right?”
Baek Moo-jin swallowed nervously and replied.
“I suppose so. Shall we wash up and head down?”
“Yes.”
As Jin So-hye stood up, Baek Moo-jin finally turned his back and let out a tiny sigh of relief.
“Phew.”
Even after Baek Moo-jin finished his meal at the inn, the vast first floor remained empty. This was because the two had gotten up exceptionally early to come for breakfast. Baek Moo-jin sipped his tea while waiting for Jin So-hye, who ate much more slowly than him.
