Seo Mun-geuk had slipped away from the Bukcheon Alliance and sat alone at a window seat in the inn, drinking.
It was a day when the liquor flowed freely.
He was merely a waiting candidate with no official appointment yet, and with the young master of the Ximen clan having arrived, it was obvious that no one would care if Ximen Gyeok disappeared.
He glanced up at the sky and noticed the moonlight was unusually faint tonight. Even that faint glow was occasionally swallowed by clouds.
Seo Mun-geuk raised his cup and spoke toward the faint moonlight.
“What a perfect night.”
Suddenly, Seo Mun-geuk remembered the frozen bottle of liquor and tapped the intact bottle with his finger until it made a hollow thud.
The illegitimate son of the Ximen family.
Seo Mun-geuk was the illegitimate child of the Seo Mun family head and the half-brother of Seo Mun Dan-cheon.
Because of this, Seo Mun-geuk felt uncomfortable wherever the Seo Mun family was, as if he didn’t belong. He had come to the North Heaven Alliance to start anew, but he felt the same way here too.
Partly because he was the second son of the Ximen Clan, and partly due to Ximen Gyeok’s unique personality. The gaze of the alliance members held a sense of distance, as if Ximen Gyeok would never truly take root in the North Heaven Alliance.
The only one he had grown somewhat close to was Baek Mujin…
But now, he suspected even Baek Mujin would start viewing the entire Ximen Clan as trash because of Ximen Dancheon.
