Chapter 103
At the edge of Guild City territory. The night sea swells, holding the pale starlight that spills down.
The port city bordering the southern seas of the continent, and arguably the empire’s foremost trading port: ‘The City of Cambio’.
Arte del Cambio.
One of the great guilds handling currency exchange and finance, and the guild to which the ‘City Master’—who oversees the seven cities and the great guilds—belongs. Within the city of that very guild, the most vile desires writhe.
The Animal Realm.
Pigs, birds, horses, and cows. Not in metaphor, but literally—men wearing masks of every beast imaginable were there. Like a carnival festival, each wore ceremonial masks, reveling in a lavish party that would put even the royal court’s to shame.
Dale was no exception.
He concealed his identity with a white mask reminiscent of The Phantom of the Opera and a shadow cloak disguised as a black robe.
On the day the continent’s premier black market opened.
Amidst the masquerade of beasts, Dale turned his head.
True to its name, the market was lined with an innumerable array of goods.
Like the glass display cases in a department store.
Items not valuable enough for auction, yet possessing just the right worth to stir up excitement on the black market. From living creatures to rare artifacts adventurers risked their lives to seize in dungeons. Treasures worth a fortune, beyond what even a minor noble could afford by selling all their property and lands, are nothing here but mere snacks rolling around in the marketplace.
