Chapter 66
The pale moon slowly revealed its hue, signaling the onset of night.
“It’s a beautifully tended path,” Eri remarked, her eyes filled with admiration as she gazed at the expansive garden during her walk with Duke Marlborough.
In the center of the garden’s pond stood a statue of Fridea. With her eyes closed and her sword thrust into the ground, she looked incredibly noble.
Large beech trees grew throughout the garden, and the long road leading to it was lined with rows of evergreen oaks.
In a secluded corner sat a single swing.
“I come here whenever I feel lonely. The gardeners always tend to it with such care that it’s a pleasure to look at,” Duke Marlborough said, stroking his beard with a warm smile.
“Hoho, thank you for letting me enjoy it as well. But…”
Eri’s bright smile faded as she remembered the murders currently haunting the area.
‘There it goes again,’ the Duke thought, offering a bittersweet smile as he looked at his niece.
Eri was a girl like a lamp, always lighting up her surroundings with a vibrant smile. However, her status as the Princess of Isilia often dimmed that light.
Yet, her light never truly vanished.
That was because her actions were always driven by her heart for the people.
Eri soon asked Duke Marlborough in a calm voice, “Uncle. You said Eric Durant, whom you introduced earlier, is an Eclat Sept. How were you able to tell?”
“It is the Nebula.”
“The Nebula?”
“Yes. The mana they emit spreads softly like a thin cloud and sparkles like starlight. The colors vary, but they show such immense talent that it makes those around them feel jealous. Every nation tries to hide this talent somehow, but it will eventually come to light.”
