Chapter 50
A holiday arrived after the exams ended.
The place Khal reached after leaving Partes Academy was a shabby two-story house.
The exterior walls were covered in graffiti, and inside, cobwebs hung from the ceiling…
Dust had piled up so thick that footprints were left on the floor.
‘I have the dignity of a Demon King to maintain. Maybe I should just give up on this whole rehabilitation thing.’
He felt like tearing the whole place down, but he couldn’t.
Instead of destroying it, he had to clean it thoroughly.
“Khal. Don’t slack off.”
Even Lily had stepped up to help him. With her sleeves rolled up and a bandana tied around her head, she looked full of enthusiasm.
Cleaning began with ventilation. Lily threw the windows wide open.
“Sigh.”
Khal had no choice but to pick up a broom.
“K-Kalliant, you don’t need to go this far.”
Just then, Diana, dressed in her maid uniform, hurried over and grabbed the broom.
“This is my house, isn’t it?”
Diana shook her head quickly at Khal’s question.
“B-but this is where Schmidt and I will be staying from now on. To think you’d come on your day off just to clean…”
Diana hung her head, feeling unnecessarily guilty.
“It’s my fault for making you stay in such a cheap place.”
Khal felt a twinge of guilt himself at her overly humble attitude.
The Stark Family sent tuition and living expenses, but since his position within the family was narrow, he couldn’t spend money recklessly. Still, he couldn’t leave Schmidt and Diana, whom he had decided to take with him, living in a cramped space forever.
