Chapter 39
“Pfft.”
Upon hearing Khal’s words, Marchioness Mamiant burst into laughter unintentionally.
“Hahahaha!”
Tears were already forming in the corners of her eyes.
“That sounds more like a threat than a proposal for a bet.”
“I didn’t think a threat would actually work on you.”
At Khal’s response, Marchioness Mamiant adjusted her glasses and gave a command to the soldiers who were warily guarding him, her gaze now serious.
“Leave us. I wish to have a private conversation with him.”
“Understood.”
The soldiers were briefly taken aback by her order, but they soon bowed politely and retreated.
Whine! Whine!
One of the Dobermans, terrified by Khal’s bloodlust, licked the back of her hand as if begging to flee.
“Heh.”
Mamiant chuckled leisurely and stroked the Doberman’s head.
“It just so happens that I’ve found something I want. Can you provide it?”
“What is it?”
Intrigued by the unexpected remark, Khal tilted his head and waited for her answer.
Marchioness Mamiant slightly covered her flushed face with her hand and spoke.
“Become my dog.”
…What kind of nonsense was this?
Anyone else would have been so flabbergasted they’d be speechless, but Khal simply snorted and countered immediately.
“Are you confident you can tame me?”
“Hohoho, there has never been anything I couldn’t tame. My former husbands were all full of spirit and had strong wills. In the end, they were all brought to their knees and died like dogs for me.”
“Are you saying you killed them?”
“Oh my. You certainly have a sense of humor. Hoho.”
