Chapter 29
The sun was high in the sky.
Rain was wiping Khal’s body with a warm towel before re-wrapping his loosened bandages.
While Khal usually handled his own affairs whenever possible,
he had no choice but to ask for help this time, exhausted as he was and repulsed by the stench of sweat and blood clinging to his skin.
Of course, unlike Khal’s discomfort, Rain was helping him with a joyful heart.
“All done.”
“Good work. How’s the kid?”
Khal asked about Pyrr’s situation as he put on his clothes.
“With Professor McCally’s help, Pyrr has found a safe house and is recuperating with her mother. Lowell and Lily are also actively supporting them.”
“They sure like to meddle.”
Rain was quite taken aback by Khal’s blunt remark.
In reality, Khal had been the most active in ensuring the mother and daughter would live comfortably.
“By the way, what about the doll?”
“If you mean that, I’ve sewn it up over there.”
The doll sitting on the chair was clean, having been sewn and washed.
“Ho.”
Khal gave a rare look of admiration as he picked up the doll and inspected it thoroughly before speaking.
“You have good skills.”
“…You flatter me.”
Rain blushed, feeling unnecessarily shy.
“But what are you going to do with a doll, Young Master?”
Rain unintentionally imagined the stoic Khal playing with a doll…
“Pffft!”
She quickly covered her mouth, letting out a small giggle.
Khal glared at her briefly before regaining his composure and heading toward the door.
“W-where are you going? If you push yourself without sleeping…”
