Chapter 132
His first day entering Altair.
After finishing his meeting with Frua, Khal received information through an intelligence agent and soon stepped out toward the outskirts of the town.
However, what he expected to be a light stroll turned into a grueling march as they were met with a sudden blizzard.
“Achoo! It’s freezing!”
Unable to withstand the bitter cold, Schmidt huddled into his thick coat, shivering uncontrollably.
Walking beside him, Diana spoke with a look of pity in her eyes.
“You used to say a blacksmith could survive in any environment as long as he had an anvil and a hammer. Acting like this the moment we arrive is quite a nuisance to Lord Kalliant.”
“I take it back! I take it all back! More importantly, I’m the one suffering here, so why is looking after that guy more important to you?”
“Naturally, it is.”
“If he and I both fell into the water, who would you save?”
“Lord Kalliant.”
“……”
Wounded by her immediate response, Schmidt pinched the bridge of his red-tipped nose and let out a sob.
“And here I thought I’d raised you like my own daughter. *Sniff*.”
“When exactly did you ever raise me?”
Diana shot him an exasperated glare, but soon began to watch her step as she noticed the grim expression on Khal’s face while he walked ahead.
After walking for about another twenty minutes, they arrived at a place filled with snow-covered graves.
“…Is it here?”
Crunch, crunch.
Though there were many graves, Khal did not hesitate and stood before one in particular.
「Guardian Knight Luke, resting in eternal peace.」
