Chapter 125
The red circuit surged toward the heart, the one place a mage should never allow to be breached.
The nine circles that had been revolving around that heart were completely shattered by the Mana Break Khal had triggered.
“Cough!”
Unable to withstand the shock reverberating through his body, blood poured from every one of Petro’s orifices.
Losing control over his mana, he plummeted from the air. At the last second, he managed to control gravity just enough to soften the impact of his landing.
“Gah—bleugh!”
But with his circles broken, he was no more than a half-baked mage.
Now, he was just an old man suffering from severe internal injuries.
“Pant, pant.”
Petro clutched his aching chest and muttered to himself.
“Dammit. Where… where did it all go wrong? What did I do wrong?!”
In a fit of resentment, he looked up at Deses, who was looking down at him from the sky.
The amused glint that had been in Deses’s eyes until moments ago was gone, replaced only by a cold, ruthless emotion.
As if offering a final mercy, Deses answered Petro’s question.
“It seems you failed to realize you’ve become a relic of the past. Once you’re old, you should quietly step aside for the next generation. It was that greed to have everything that ruined it all.”
He deemed the failure no longer useful. With that, Deses vanished along with Zauber.
“Hehehe… Hahahaha!”
Petro burst into laughter that lasted for a long time.
Step.
After some time had passed, Khal appeared before him.
“…It is my defeat,” Petro said with a bitter smile.
