Chapter 112
The potency of the elixir bestowed by Balbadus, King of the Wraiths, poured oil onto the flickering flame of a dying life.
Flash!
Color quickly began to return to Berio Walker’s face as he consumed the elixir. The stab wound in his abdomen gradually narrowed before sealing shut completely.
Contrary to expectations, however, he did not regain consciousness immediately; from the feel of it, he would need more time before he could open his eyes.
‘The crisis has passed.’
Khal breathed a sigh of relief and drank the remainder of the elixir. Though he hadn’t taken a large dose, it was enough to restore vitality to his fatigue-stricken body.
A short while later.
Arriving at the Sword Sanctuary with Berio on his back, Khal grimaced in disgust. A pile of corpses was stacked like a mountain before him, and just as Berio had said, parched, leafy flowers were sprouting from their mouths.
To be precise, they were sprouts for the growth of Tara rather than flowers, but they looked nearly identical to the naked eye.
Khal spent over an hour searching the area around the temple. He feared that any stray Tara sprouting elsewhere might absorb the land’s nutrients to grow. Fortunately, Tara was nowhere else to be found.
His next destination was, naturally, the inner sanctum of the temple. When he had first arrived, he had given up on exploring it, lacking the confidence to investigate while protecting Berio. However, for some reason, that ominous energy was no longer felt at all.
As expected, there was nothing inside the temple. There wasn’t even an altar or a statue to honor the goddess; it felt as if the building had simply been constructed and left empty.
