Chapter 98. Loss
“Oppa, Oppa!”
He shot upright.
“Ugh… my head.”
I thought I heard a woman’s voice. Was I dreaming of an ex-girlfriend?
As consciousness returned, pain flared throughout my entire body. No exaggeration, I ached from head to toe. Usually, the worst injuries hurt first, don’t they?
“Ugh! What the f*ck?!”
I pushed myself up to assess the situation, only to see the bloody corpse of an animal.
‘What is this? A bird?’
Waking up on an animal corpse, even if it wasn’t a bed, felt wrong. What on earth happened?
Clutching my throbbing head, I desperately tried to recall my memories.
Just then, a low growl reached my ears.
Grrr…
Gulp.
I swallowed hard, then quietly scanned my surroundings.
A Zombie.
Right beside me, a Zombie was pinned beneath the rubble of a collapsed building, unable to move. It was face down on the ground, only its head and part of its upper body protruding. In that state, it couldn’t possibly attack me. That’s probably why I’m still alive.
‘Calm down. I need to find something I can use as a weapon first.’
Slowly, I got to my feet and looked around.
The space where I woke up was a cramped room, seemingly a 1.5-room apartment.
Against one wall was a hanger, fixed to both the ceiling and floor. Beneath the clothes hanging on it, I spotted a Baseball Bat leaning against the wall. There were two bats of different materials, along with a baseball glove and baseballs.
I picked up one of the wooden Baseball Bats.
I aimed for the back of the immobile Zombie’s head. Unable to get a proper swing, I brought the bat down from above.
