Chapter 50. Preparation
It was only then that I remembered Gayoung was preparing dinner alone, so I quickly took a shower. After making sure Seonyoung showered first and left, I quickly finished up and headed to the kitchen.
Bubbling.
In the kitchen, Seonyoung and Gayoung stood side-by-side, simmering something and chopping various vegetables. Seeing them stand together like that, they really looked like sisters. Though their appearances were quite different, their names were similar.
“Oh, Oppa, you’re out? Have a seat for a moment. Dinner’s almost ready.”
At Seonyoung’s words, I sat down at the dining table. Gayoung glanced at me, her face flushing red before she quickly turned away.
*Why is she acting like that again? Could she have heard something? The sound should have been doubly blocked by the bathroom and master bedroom doors, but Seonyoung had been so loud, I couldn’t be sure.*
As I pondered whether they’d heard anything, the two of them bustled about, and soon the dining table was laden with dinner.
“Wow. This looks delicious. I’ll eat well.”
“I’ll eat well!”
In the pot placed in the center of the table, thinly sliced pork simmered in a broth flavored with various vegetables. For side dishes, there were five basic varieties: kimchi, braised beans, and bean sprout salad, which seemed to magically reappear no matter how much we ate. It seemed Gayoung kept making side dishes whenever she was home.
*These days, hardly anyone bothers to prepare such a spread, I thought.*
