Chapter 342. Homeward
The uninvited guests who had interrupted their conversation were easily dealt with.
Schneider had burst the heads of the four men in front of them. Sora had neatly dismembered the three men who had been holding her.
“Unnie! Are you okay? Because of me… *Ugh*.”
“Huh? Why are you crying? I’m fine.”
Sohee ran to Sora, tears streaming down her face. The bastards had used their Abilities to hide themselves and launch a surprise attack, and Sora had pushed Sohee away, getting captured in her stead.
“No… I really am fine.”
As Sohee clung to her, still whimpering, Sora looked at me with a troubled expression. I checked that both of them were unharmed, then turned my head. *They’ll sort it out themselves.*
“I hope he’s cooperative.”
“*Hsssp*… Yes, yes. Of course.”
I looked at the man kneeling before me. One of his knees was shattered, his leg bent in an unnatural direction. He was one of the men who had been in the direction I charged, and the only survivor among the uninvited guests.
*It’s a good thing I left one alive, at least.* Schneider and Sora seemed intent on killing all the enemies. That’s why I thought I should save one of them. If I didn’t leave a survivor, there’d be no way to learn about their faction. Then we’d have to move locations, leaving a lingering sense of unease. In many ways, leaving one alive seemed like a very good decision.
“Before that… everyone, go inside. It’s over.”
“Okay. Oppa, you come in quickly too.”
The group, who had come out late, breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing the situation safely concluded. Before the interrogation, I told Seonyoung to go inside. She had been through many tougher situations, but now she wasn’t alone. It felt quite late to start, but I would try to be more mindful from now on.
