Chapter 289. Contamination
Schneider had stripped the man they captured, leaving him with nothing but his panties.
From experience, I’d learned that treating opponents with civility only prolonged the conversation. It was far more efficient for both sides if I showed them I wasn’t above killing them if necessary, rather than treating them with respect.
*Or was it just easier for me?*
Anyway.
The man, named Park Dusik, answered my questions cooperatively.
“So, you were looking for a healing-type Ability User?”
“Yes, that’s right. I never intended to harm you, sir.”
“Hard to believe that.”
It was an obvious lie. The child Zombie tied up on Seogang Bridge was indeed his doing. He claimed it was to temporarily halt anyone passing by, as his group was sick. He said they needed medicine or a healing-type Ability User. Even if his stated purpose was true, I doubted his methods were peaceful.
“Dusik.”
“Yes, sir.”
“Tell me honestly, okay? We’ve been getting along so well.”
I raised my fist and stared intently into Dusik’s eyes. My fist, to exaggerate only slightly, was about the size of Euna’s head. It looked like it would hurt a lot if it connected.
“It’s true, sir. We set up these devices at several entry points around our base. We couldn’t keep watch all day.”
“Really? Where’s your base? How many people are there?”
I decided to go to Dusik’s base with him. Hwajung had said that meeting anyone at all was a stroke of luck. If his words were true and his group was merely struggling for survival, I was willing to share some medicine.
