Chapter 110. Bond
Roar! Thud!
“Damn it. Is someone controlling them?”
He left the Cafe Building in the late afternoon and resumed his journey.
The number of Zombies appearing steadily increased with every step he took. Initially, there had been fewer than five per block, but now it was closer to ten. It felt as if the Zombies were arranged in regular intervals, almost systematically.
He pulled out the Neighborhood Map he’d folded in his pocket and marked the spots where he’d fought Zombies. A small doubt had begun to sprout, prompting him to start recording from the most recent encounter. He jotted down the number of Zombies and then put his pen and map away.
*Hmm… should I call it a Zombie Map? The name feels strangely familiar.*
He couldn’t be certain yet, but if he kept recording, a pattern was bound to emerge. Even if human memory was imperfect, there was definitely something to this.
*No matter how I look at it, the Zombie placement is too artificial.*
Recalling the points where he’d encountered Zombies, he continued to scout his surroundings.
The sun would set soon. He needed to find a place to rest for the night before it got too late. Lately, he’d been hearing many strange animal noises at night, suggesting that nights were probably more dangerous than days. Considering the Pig-Pigeon he’d seen before, he couldn’t underestimate the animals on the streets either.
*Ugh. Just thinking about it gives me the creeps.*
He forced himself to shake off the vivid memory of the Pig-Pigeon and raised his Baseball Bat forward.
