Chapter 100. Loss
‘Oh! My first real haul.’
I scoured every corner of the cafe and finally found cookies in the Storage Room.
They were inside a broken Freezer, hidden beneath a collapsed shelf. It seemed the shelf had obscured them, preventing others who came here from finding them.
‘Quite a lot, actually.’
The box contained 20 individually wrapped cookies. I also found two bags of roasted Coffee Beans. I wasn’t sure if I’d have the luxury of brewing Coffee, but I took them anyway.
I decided to save the frozen cookies for tomorrow and opened a can of Canned Ham. I briefly considered saving my Food Supplies as much as possible, but hunger won out. To conserve Food Supplies, it was best to do nothing and stay still, but that wasn’t an option.
‘I’ll probably have to move around a lot tomorrow, so I guess it can’t be helped.’
After rationalizing my decision, I made a place to sleep. I pushed the fabric Sofas together to create a Bed and stacked Tables near the entrance. Once everything was tidy, I washed up quickly. Without a Toothbrush, I squeezed Toothpaste onto my hand and brushed my teeth.
I lay my tired body down and tried to clear my chaotic thoughts.
‘Wait, no? I don’t feel as tired as I thought.’
I had assumed I was exhausted, but lying down, I didn’t feel particularly worn out. Thinking back now, Won-ho was truly a grateful friend. He even gave me a Starter Pack. And I’d gotten a day’s worth of Food Supplies from his room.
Thinking I was lucky, I closed my eyes.
