Chapter 140 Stirrings
Namgung-woo did not immediately address the issue of Byeong Chan-ju’s identity. Now was not the time.
The battle was still raging.
While Yi Ho-yeong’s intervention had turned the tide, it was too early to relax. If this truly was a Black Ghost Gate, the real threats had yet to emerge.
Guo Dan had achieved mutual destruction with a Heaven-Gazing Hou, and Peng Hu-sang had slaughtered dozens of lesser Demonic Beasts.
Both Guo Dan and Peng Hu-sang were beings who had reached the Cultivation Realm of Supernatural powers and strange deities, shedding their human forms.
Yet, why did Guo Dan struggle against a single Heaven-Gazing Hou, burning his own life force to barely defeat it, while Peng Hu-sang subdued dozens of lesser Demonic Beasts without a single scratch?
Even among the Demonic Beasts emerging from the same Ghost Gate, there were differences in power. Not all creatures from a Black Ghost Gate were strong enough to make even a Peerless Master struggle.
From the first Ghost Gate Namgung-woo encountered, like the Form-Stealing Fiend, or the Heaven-Gazing Hou at Longevity Hill, one or two extremely powerful Demonic Beasts typically existed within a Ghost Gate. They were akin to a Gate Master. The supreme being within the collective entity known as a Ghost Gate.
The Jianghu referred to such Demonic Beasts as Ghost Gate Lords, Ghost Kings, or Gate Master-level entities.
The rank of a Ghost Gate was determined by these Gate Master-level Demonic Beasts.
If the Demonic Beasts were easily dealt with by a Peak Transcendence Grandmaster, it meant the Gate Master-level entity had not yet appeared.
