Chapter 139: First Strike Wins (3)
Gansu Province, Wudu County.
Located right next to Shaanxi, this place is a transportation hub like Hanzhong, considered one of the more livable areas within the barren Gansu Province.
Thanks to this, the Guangren Sect, a subordinate faction of the Ten Demon Alliance governing Wudu County, managed to maintain a fairly strong force.
The Guangren Sect poured significant effort into protecting Wudu County with that force.
Because you never knew when or where another group of demonic cultivators from the same Ten Demon Alliance might turn into bandits.
That day was no different from any other.
Guards of the Madmen’s Sect stationed at the city gates inspected travelers and their goods, filtering out any suspicious individuals.
This wasn’t to catch spies from the Nine Dragons City, but to apprehend any demonic cultivators who might enter harboring ill intent.
‘Having to watch out for our own people? What a shitty job.’
He grumbled inwardly, but he did his utmost to fulfill his duty.
A moment’s lapse could open the gates, allowing a horde of mages turned bandits to storm in.
The strong survive.
It was a culture inseparable from the mage world.
Had half a day passed like that?
Thud thud thud thud.
A group of horsemen could be seen charging from afar, kicking up dust.
Whenever he saw such a sight, it had never been a good thing.
Nine times out of ten, it meant allies disguised as bandits were attacking the city.
“Raid!”
Ding-ding-ding-ding.
He struck the bell hanging beside the gate, signaling the enemy attack.
