Chapter 53
Chapter 53: Night. Zi Baiying’s entire body erupted with Purple-Black Spiritual Power. With a sharp twist of her slender waist, she gripped her Purple Whip with both hands and gave a fierce tug, pulling the Silverfish King out of the water and sending it flying towards Qin Yefeng.
Qin Yefeng understood Zi Baiying’s intention perfectly: she wanted him to deliver the final blow and finish off the obstructing Silverfish King.
Holding his Blood Shadow Battle Saber, Qin Yefeng thrust the saber forward with both hands. A blood-red shadow flashed, piercing directly into the Silverfish King’s skull.
After the Silverfish King was impaled by the Blood Shadow Battle Saber, its wildly thrashing great fish tail ceased to move.
Only after seeing its palm-sized silvery-white fish eyes completely close did Qin Yefeng finally relax. The raft would no longer be dragged over by the Silverfish King.
With the Silverfish King dealt with, the scattered small silverfish were no longer a threat. They dared not approach the raft, and soon, the school of silverfish vanished from Qin Yefeng’s sight.
Xiong Yu watched the School of Silverfish finally depart and plopped down. “Thank goodness for Big Brother Yefeng and Zi Baiying,” he exclaimed. “Without you two, I, Xiong Yu, would surely have ended up in a fish’s belly today!”
After the raft crossed the lake, night had already fallen in the forest, and scattered stars appeared in the sky.
Qin Yefeng saw Zi Baiying hadn’t put away her Long Purple Whip and was still dragging the ten-meter-long Silverfish King behind the raft, slowing them down.
“Baiying, why are you still dragging the Silverfish King’s corpse?” Qin Yefeng asked, puzzled.
“It’s already dark, not suitable for travel,” Zi Baiying replied with a mischievous smile. “And I’m hungry. Of course, this Silverfish King is for a delicious meal! And later, I have a gift for you.”
Night fell quickly in the forest, and the air temperature suddenly turned cold.
Among the three, Qin Yefeng, holding his Blood Shadow Battle Saber, led the way. Xiong Yu was in the middle, carrying the Silverfish King.
Zi Baiying held the Purple Whip at her hip, moving at the rear of the group, her eyes scanning the surroundings vigilantly.
Qin Yefeng found an open area with a good vantage point upwind. After surveying the surroundings, he stopped. “We’ll set up camp here tonight,” he announced.
Qin Yefeng helped Xiong Yu place the ten-meter-long Silverfish King on the ground. Then, the two went off to gather firewood.
After Qin Yefeng stacked the campfire stones and placed the chopped firewood inside the stone pile, a wisp of Burning Heaven Dragon Flame flowed from his hand, igniting the firewood.
The orange-red flames instantly illuminated the surrounding dark forest. Afterwards, Zi Baiying skewered the Silverfish King’s flesh onto branches and began to roast it.
The golden-yellow fish oil from the Silverfish King sizzled out, dripping into the firewood pile and making the flames grow larger.
At this moment, Zi Baiying took out various bottles and jars from her Storage Bag and sprinkled red chili powder, salt, and cumin onto the nearly cooked Silverfish King.
Instantly, the roasted Silverfish King became even more fragrant. Then, Zi Baiying, with her fair hand, offered a piece of roasted fish to Qin Yefeng.
Qin Yefeng smiled as he took the fish from Zi Baiying. “Thank you, Baiying.”
Their fingers touched for a fleeting moment. The sensation of that touch made Qin Yefeng feel truly wonderful.
Zi Baiying quickly withdrew her arm. Her pretty face appeared calm, but Qin Yefeng noticed from her steadily rising and falling chest that she was still a little nervous.
Eating the crispy, delicious, and wonderfully textured roasted Silverfish King, Qin Yefeng’s gaze towards Zi Baiying changed.
“Baiying, didn’t you say you had a gift for me? Can you tell me now?”
“You’ll know after midnight,” Zi Baiying replied with a graceful smile. After finishing her roasted Silverfish King, she found two trees growing close together.
She flicked the Purple Whip from her slender waist, hooking it between the two trees. With a graceful leap of her pretty figure, she lay down on the thin whip stretched between the trees and fell asleep.
Qin Yefeng watched Zi Baiying’s beautiful figure, scratching his head in confusion, and muttered, “Just who is this woman? She’s so mysterious.”
Xiong Yu was still devouring the roasted Silverfish King nearby. His gluttonous, ravenous eating looked as if he might swallow his own tongue.
After Xiong Yu finished the last piece of Silverfish King meat, he patted his bulging belly, and a long, loud burp escaped his lips.
Then he lay down on a stone slab covered with fallen leaves and fell asleep. No matter how Qin Yefeng called him, Xiong Yu refused to wake up.
Left with no choice, Qin Yefeng had to stand guard alone. One must know that in the mountains and forests, the principle of ‘hunt or be hunted’ prevails. Anyone careless in the forest would be killed.
Qin Yefeng watched the flames in the campfire, swirling and dancing in the air. It seemed he was destined to stand guard alone tonight.
In the latter half of the night, Zi Baiying leaped down from the tree and softly walked to Qin Yefeng’s side, whispering, “We have prey arriving tonight.”
“Who are you referring to as ‘prey’?” Qin Yefeng asked, puzzled.
“Wang Yi!” Zi Baiying revealed a faint smile.
“I do want to deal with him,” Qin Yefeng mused for a moment before speaking, “but I don’t want to waste time killing him. Our most important task right now is the Flag Capture Battle.”
“When our Flag Capture Battle team set out,” Zi Baiying explained, “I noticed Wang Yi’s team deliberately following us. They must be trying to hinder our progress, or even kill us. The traps I set over there have been destroyed, so they must be in that area.”
Zi Baiying glanced towards the lake shore.
“In that case,” Qin Yefeng said, “I might as well go all the way and capture Wang Yi and his group in one fell swoop. However, that Xue Li is still a bit tricky. I’m not confident I can kill him quickly. If the Instructors find out, won’t I be unable to remain in Holy Sun Academy?”
Qin Yefeng felt some hesitation and didn’t want to easily get involved in this messy situation.
“You’re not seeing this clearly,” Zi Baiying countered. “Xue Li and Wang Yi are separated. So their team has six people. Xue Li sent three people to slow us down. If you don’t want to kill them, then we’ll just travel faster tomorrow and shake them off.”
Zi Baiying wasn’t being pushy at this moment, but wanted Qin Yefeng to make the decision. After all, these were his enemies.
“Lead the way. I’ll take them on.” A murderous aura gleamed in Qin Yefeng’s eyes.
Just as Qin Yefeng was about to wake Xiong Yu, Zi Baiying stopped him. “Xiong Yu is a bit clumsy, not suited for assassination. Let him stay here.”
Qin Yefeng nodded, and then he and Zi Baiying stealthily moved towards the lake shore.
Sure enough, they found a campfire on the lake shore, with three figures sitting around it.
Qin Yefeng and Zi Baiying leaped onto tree branches and observed them from a distance.
“Boss Wang Yi,” a student with a sharp chin and monkey-like cheeks beside Wang Yi asked, “we’ve been following these three for so long. Why didn’t you just kill them on the spot when the demonic beasts attacked them?”
