Chapter 207
Chapter 207 – Valley
The old man thought he had misheard, his mind still reeling as he carefully pondered the meaning behind Zi Baiying’s words.
Qin Yefeng quickly explained, “Her medical skills are quite proficient. With her help, the old woman will surely recover quickly.”
Hearing that the old woman’s illness could be treated immediately, the old man hastily invited Qin Yefeng and Zi Baiying into his small stone house.
Upon entering the stone house, Qin Yefeng noticed it was meticulously arranged, clean, and tidy. Inside, he saw an old woman with white hair lying on a wrinkled sheet, her eyes closed, body curled up at the head of the bed, coughing violently.
The old woman’s hearing also seemed to be impaired. When Qin Yefeng and Zi Baiying entered, she didn’t even realize there were visitors. Zi Baiying quickly stepped forward and examined the old woman’s complexion.
She then instructed the old man to gently open the old woman’s eyes, to see what was truly ailing her.
Zi Baiying took out a handkerchief, skillfully unfolded it, and produced ten slender silver needles. “Old man,” she said, “she has suffered from prolonged exposure to cold qi in the mountains, and her aged body can no longer resist the chill. This has led to the cold qi invading her body and damaging her lungs. With a session of acupuncture and a few medicinal herbs brewed into a decoction to be taken morning, noon, and night, she will make a full recovery.”
The old man looked troubled. “Young lady, we don’t have money to buy medicinal herbs. Forget a few, we can’t even afford a single one.”
